WETRUF® gypsum probes have been designed to allow specific calibration of a gypsum probe housing, providing more accurate pF measurement in the 2.5 to 4.5 pF range. Thanks to this innovation, it is now possible to obtain a direct pF reading without the need for any conversion. Boxes manufactured by WETRUF are perfectly compatible with our probes. For the pF Tracer® One case, the compatible probe is the WETRUF® 2-point plaster probe, for the pF Tracer® One + and pF Tracer® Pro cases only the WETRUF® Duo probe. is compatible.
WETRUF® products
The pF, or water potential, represents the force required to extract water from a soil. Theoretically, this unit varies between 1 and 6, but is generally used between 2 and 4.2 values, corresponding respectively to field capacity and permanent wilting point. The pF also has the advantage of being independent of soil texture, unlike water content.
Along with pF, soil temperature is a key factor in the truffle production process. Studies have shown that if the value is too high, production can be reduced or lost altogether.
If your truffle farm is close to home and the number of measuring points is not high, we recommend you purchase the pF Tracer® One +.
Otherwise, or for automation purposes, pF Tracer® Pro is more suitable.
WETRUF® Duo probes have been specially designed to work with the pF Tracer® range. They consist of a waterproof temperature probe and a pF-reading plaster refill.
